Treatment options
Pain is as individual as the person experiencing it. At our Center for Modern Pain Therapy, we offer a holistic treatment approach tailored to your personal situation.
Our goal is not only to relieve symptoms, but also to identify the underlying causes of your condition and treat them in a targeted and sustainable way. We combine modern medical techniques with an interdisciplinary approach to significantly improve your quality of life.
Infiltrations
Targeted infiltrations allow medication to be delivered directly to the source of pain. These procedures are performed under image guidance (X-ray or ultrasound) to ensure maximum precision and safety.
Infiltrations
- Spinal injections (cervical, thoracic, lumbar)
- Facet joint injections and medial branch blocks
- Epidural and transforaminal nerve root injections
- Sacroiliac joint injections
- Joint injections (shoulder, knee, hip)
Specialized nerve blocks
Targeted nerve or ganglion blocks can effectively interrupt pain signaling pathways. These procedures are particularly used for chronic or complex pain syndromes, including:
- Stellate ganglion, ganglion impar, and sphenopalatine ganglion blocks
- Peripheral nerve blocks (e.g. piriformis, occipital, supraorbital nerves)
Image-guided procedures
Modern imaging techniques such as ultrasound and X-ray enable precise placement of injections. This improves treatment efficacy and minimizes risks.
Radiofrequency Ablation
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) and pulsed radiofrequency are innovative procedures for long-term pain relief. Specific nerve fibers responsible for pain transmission are selectively treated.
Infusions
Special infusions, such as ketamine or procaine, can be effective in selected chronic pain conditions. They act on central pain processing mechanisms and may help reduce abnormal pain signaling.
Ketamine and procaine infusions
Ketamine and procaine infusions are used in chronic pain conditions, particularly when conventional treatments are insufficient. They influence central pain processing in the nervous system and may help reduce pain hypersensitivity and improve long-term pain control.
PRP for Knee Osteoarthritis
Do you experience pain when walking? Has knee osteoarthritis been diagnosed? What are the options after diagnosis?
In recent years, the use of autologous (body-derived) substances has become increasingly important in pain medicine. The advantages are clear: effective, individualized, sustainable, and with minimal side effects. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a regenerative medicine treatment.
Treatment process
- 50–100 ml of your own blood is drawn
- The blood is centrifuged in special tubes
- The resulting PRP is injected into the knee using a fine needle
Benefits of PRP for knee osteoarthritis
- More effective than treatments such as cortisone or hyaluronic acid
- Effects can last several months up to two years
- Reduces pain and improves joint function
Is PRP right for me?
- PRP is now recommended by several professional societies for knee osteoarthritis.
- It is particularly suitable if you want to delay or avoid knee replacement surgery.
- The full PRP treatment costs approximately CHF 950 and is not covered by health insurance.
Psychosomatics
Chronic pain affects not only the body but also the mind. Using modern approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we help you develop a new way of dealing with pain and sustainably improve your quality of life.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
CT is a modern form of behavioral therapy that improves coping with chronic pain. Instead of fighting pain, patients learn to change their relationship with it and refocus on a meaningful, value-based life. This can reduce psychological burden and improve long-term wellbeing.
